The world’s top snow and ice sports athletes will descend upon New Zealand’s Southern Alps and take on the best in ski racing to curling, snowboarding to skating as well as adaptive snow sports as 100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games takes off on Friday.
100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games takes place from August 12th-28th, 2011, featuring 38 events, 22 sports, 1,000 athletes, over 30 nations and an audience of millions. The games will be the ultimate testing ground where the elite athletes can experiment and take their performances to the ultimate limits against the top-notch world-class competition.
The program includes World Cup and Continental Cup level events and will act for many as the first step on their journey to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
The on-snow competition will take place at Coronet Peak, Cardrona Alpine Resort, Snow Park New Zealand, Snow Farm and Mt Hutt with the ice sports taking place at Naseby and Dunedin.
