U.S. Ski Team members Ted Ligety and Lindsey Vonn both pulled off major victories in their World Cup ski events. Vonn took first place in Lake Louise, Canada at the Super-G race for the 11th time, while Ligety grabbed the World Cup Giant Slalom title at the Birds of Prey event in Beaver Creek, Co.
Even though the events were miles away, Vonn still cheered Ligety on by making a call to Beaver Creek just minutes before Ligety won his 6th World Cup title. This marks the first time since 2006 that two Americans won both men’s and women’s World Cup events on the same day.
Fellow American skier Julie Mancuso also grabbed a spot on the podium, coming in at third place in the Super-G race.
