Swatch-Skiers-Cup-Kaj-and-AbmaTeam Europe won the inaugural Swatch Skiers Cup Saturday in Valle Nevado, Chile, with a final score of 14 – 10, toppling the heavily favored Team Americas.  The victory saw the Europeans take home both the Cup, as well as $20,000.

122210_RacetotheCup_t620Vic Wild, one of the United States’ most gifted snowboarders, as well as husband to Russia’s world champion in parallel slalom, Alyona Zavarzina, allegedly has expressed a desire to compete for the Russian national team, according to the Russian skiing and snowboarding federation.

Americans Win Big at New Zealand GamesSeveral days of snowfall delays didn’t stop Americans Gus Kenworthy and Devin Logan from taking top podium spots in the half pipe competition at the 100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games Wednesday.

On the men’s side, like most of his competitors, Kenworthy struggled against the weather. Fortunately, his highly technical run netted him 85 points, which was more than enough to best New Zealand’s Jossi Wells’ score of 78.25. Rounding out the top three was David Wise, who almost trailed both Kenworthy and Wells with a score of 75.25 points.
